This year, our Language Arts curriculum is aligned to the Common Core State Standards. We will be working on the following units throughout the year:
Quarter 1
-Analyzing Informational Text and Writing to Explain and Inform
-Analyzing Literary Text and Writing Narratives
Quarter 2
-Evaluating, Tracing, and Writing an Argument from Nonfiction
-Writing an Argument from Fiction
Quarter 3
-Analyzing Literary and Nonfiction Text with an Argument Response
-Writing a Narrative
Quarter 4
-Gathering and Presenting Research
Each Quarter we will be completing an in-class Quarterly Writing Assessment. These will be kept in the classroom and students will be tracking their growth throughout the year.
Also, the students will be completing a variety of progress monitoring assessments at various points in the year in order to track their growth in reading.
