Lots Coming Home!

As the quarter comes to a close, the students are receiving their final scores on many of their projects. Check for their Song Playlist and their Quarter Literacy Assessment rubrics (coming home today or tomorrow). The work that the students completed with additional comments can be found by accessing their Google Drive or Google Classroom accounts.

Also, the students have been told that all Q3 Reading Logs are due Monday April 4. Anything I receive after Monday will count toward Quarter 4.

How to Build a Fictional World

Here is the video we watched today about building fictional worlds by creating a setting, making rules, and thinking about which rules might be broken in order to create a conflict.

Live in your fictional world a little bit this weekend. Look around and start to meet some of the characters who live there too!

Week of 3/21 LA Update

Lots of exciting writing happening in Sixth Grade!

The students will be receiving their scored rubrics for the John Lewis/Roy Reed letters or transcripts that they wrote. Any revisions will be due on Thursday.

The students are also finishing their Quarterly Literacy Assessment on Tuesday. Some that finished early have already been graded and the rest will be graded ASAP.

Song project are going to be due on the following days during Reading...
6-3: Monday 3/28
6-1: Tuesday 3/29
6-2: Wednesday 3/20
During this class period, students will be presenting to their peers in small groups!

And get ready...it's time for fiction story writing! We will be thinking about the techniques and themes John Lewis used to keep us engaged, and try to imitate something of his for our own short stories (either in graphic novel or prose form). Can't wait for all the creativity!

Letters/Transcripts Due Friday!

I am so excited to see the way that your letters and transcripts have been progressing this week. I am so proud of the risks some students have taken in making the assignment their own. Your creativity and critical thinking is inspiring!

Just a reminder that Thursday is your last day in school to work on these projects. Please be sure to click "Turn In" when you finish so that I know you are done.

Happy comparing and contrasting!
